Description
Annona muricata originated in the Neotropics, but is now widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions around the world. The fruit contains significant amounts of vitamins (e.g., vitamin C, vitamin B1 and B2), but also the neurotoxine annocianin. Both fruits and leaves as well as seeds have long been used to treat a wide range of ailments owing to their pharmacological activities (e.g., antimicrobial, leishmanial, hyperglycemic, parasitic, inflammatory, neuralgic, rheumatic a.o.).
