Description

Panax japonicus (also known as Bamboo ginseng) belongs to the Araliaceae family and is commonly used in traditional Asian medicine. P. japonicus grows in central south/southwest China and throughout Japan. The rhizome and root of this plant have been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years, and they have medicinal properties of ‘conserving vitality’ and ‘replenishing blood’. Modern pharmacological research has confirmed that ginsenosides and chikusetsusaponins are the major bioactive compounds found in P. japonicus. P. japonicus has been long documented in the Chinese and Japanese pharmacopeia.
